While surfing around twitter, i saw @amyholderbooks talking about an auction to help Japan, more specifically the children of Japan. This absolutely thrilled me!! I am somewhat of a philanthropist myself, so it warms my heart sooo much when i see people helping others! :)

So basically, the participating authors have put together books and book related merch bundles to have auctioned off. Once the highest bidder is determined all the paypal funds from the bids are given to Savethechildren.org! AMAZING!! :)

Hurry over before your fave book is gone!! :)

Plot Points (03/22)

Plot Points is a new feature here where i talk about the essential identifiers of the books im reading! Most posts talk about writing style or character personality, but i wanted to explain the actual foundation of the story. I just started Matched by Ally Condie so i decided to feature this book!

Im just starting chapter 4 but so far there are soo many unique points in this book! Like most dystopia books, the government, called the Society in this book, controls everything!

These people seem to have various "Banquets"...One for finding your mate, another for when you died (im assuming they die on a schedule... :/) probably more but i need to read further.

There is a nutrition type vehicle that brings you food....so no cooking! You will be eating for health...not taste.

The government tells you what job you will have and everyone is allowed to specialize in on one area.

You have to wear some sort of sleep/dream monitor.

The government tells you when you will have free/rec time and gives you few choices to do during that time.

You have to where "plainclothes" and the nice clothes have to be borrowed & only for special occasions.

The government lets you have only one momento from the past and the "Hundred Commitee" has chosen 100 of the best things (songs, books, poems, etc) while the rest are forgotten.

There are probably other points but thats all i cant remember so far! Ill add more later as i read! So what do you think? In my opinion this is an excellent foundation for an excellent book!

Wuthering BitesI have SOO may books on my shelf that i havent read yet! Im some what of a book hoarder! I buy and buy but barely have time to read...  :/  I have so many book hual posts but like no book reviews! LOL. Im working on it...im just soo busy! Guck! The book i decided to feature is called Wuthering Bites by Sarah Gray.

I bought this because i really loved Wuthering Heights. I of course love vampires too! I started reading it thinking that it would be like a modern adaption of the story like setting in the present or maybe in a different location. Gray, however did and excellent job keeping it true to the original. I did read the first chapter, but i lost interest very quickly. When i start reading it ill probably have to start from the beginning because i pretty much forget a lot of it....i also didn't have a bookmark... :/

Summary (from Goodreads): What if the enigmatic hero of one of our most timeless love stories was part vampire? The answer lies in this haunting retelling of the classic tale of Catherine and Heathcliff, kindred spirits bound by a turbulent—and now forbidden—passion...

When a young orphan named Heathcliff is brought to Wuthering Heights by the manor's owner, Mr. Earnshaw, rumors abound. Yet the truth is more complicated than anyone could guess. Heathcliff's mother was a member of a gypsy band that roamed the English countryside, slaying vampires to keep citizens safe. But his father was a vampire. Now, even as Heathcliff gallantly fights the monsters who roam the moors in order to protect beautiful, spirited Catherine Earnshaw, he is torn by compassion for his victims—and by his own dark thirst.
Though Catherine loves Heathcliff, she fears the vampire in him, and is tempted by the privileged lifestyle their neighbors, the Lintons, enjoy. Forced to choose between wealthy, refined Edgar Linton and the brooding, increasingly dangerous Heathcliff, she makes a fateful decision. And soon Heathcliff, too, must choose—between his hunger, and the woman he will love for all eternity...

Sounds amazing huh? Mhm!! I think i'll start it up again soon!

Read With Me (1)

I hope everyone is excited with the new feature here "Read with me"!! The book I choose to start with is called "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells!

Summary (from Goodreads): When the Time Traveler courageously stepped out of his machine for the first time, he found himself in the year 802,700--and everything had changed. H.G. Wells's famous novel of one man's astonishing journey beyond the conventional limits of the imagination is regarded as one of the great masterpieces in the literature of science fiction.

I decided to start lite!! So this book only has about 100 pages(....well i think actually 104) and 12 chapters.I think ill read it in a month. So thats 3 chapters for week. Since im still sort of busy setting up the blog and things, i think ill postpone the actual reading until closer to April. That will also give everyone who participates a chance to get a copy!

Since this is a pretty popular (and old) book it should defiantely be at the library, if you want to go that route. Also, you can buy it here <--- if you want a really copy for yourself. If you want to read with me online and makes note and etc, you need to make an acct at BookGlutton.com. Then you can chat and make notes as we read. Check the read with me tab up top!

Reading schedule:
March 28 to April 3 - Chapters 1, 2 and 3
April 4 to April 10 - Chapters 4, 5 and 6
April 11 to April 17 - Chapters 7, 8 and 9
April 18 to April 24 - Chapters 10, 11, 12 and Epilogue.

On April 25 we can start a new book....hmmm do you have any ideas? If so, Add them to the comments, Ill add a poll to he site after i get some reccomendations! :)

On Wednesdays i decided to post up some widgets of some upcoming books that i'm really, really excited about! To see all my widgets, checkout the tab above.

This weeks widget is none other than Fins Are Forever by Tera Lynn Childs! Its been on my bloog since the staart. After reading book 1, Ive been soo excited to get into this one!!

On Lily Sanderson’s eighteenth birthday she’ll become just a girl—still a mer girl, true, but signing the renunciation paperwork will ink Princess Waterlily of Thalassinia out of existence. That leaves plain old Lily living on land, dating the boy she loves, and trying to master this being human thing once and for all.

Now that Lily and Quince are together, mer-bond or not, she’s almost content to give up her place in the royal succession of Thalassinia. But just when she thinks she has everything figured out, Lily’s father sends a certain whirlpool-stirring cousin to stay with her on land. What did Doe do to get herself exiled from Thalassinia and stuck in terraped form, when everyone knows how much she hates humans? And why why why is she batting her eyelashes at Lily’s former crush, Brody?

The seafoam on the surf comes when a merboy from Lily’s past shows up. Tellin asks Lily for something that clouds her view of the horizon. There’s a future with Quince on land, her loyalty to the kingdom in the sea, and Lily tossing on the waves in the middle. Will she find a way to reconcile her love, her duty, and her dreams? **UPDATE: It dawned on me that some of you may already have Unearthly since it is a great book!! So alternatively, if you'd rather a giftcard thats do-able also! So the new prizes is either Unearthly -OR-  $15 via Book Giftcard to Amazon.com. :)**

Prize for 100 followers: Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.
Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.
As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart. (From Goodreads.)

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick
Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but atleast she got a guardian angel out of it: a mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever and even worse, he's started spending time with Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Millar.
Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Path hadnt been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feeling that he's hiding something.
Haunted by images of her murdered father, and questioning whether her nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death, Nora puts herself increasingly in dangerous situations as she desperatly searches for answers. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts.

Fallen By Lauren Kate
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Swoon by Nina Malkin
Torn from her native New York City and dumped in the land of cookie-cutter preps, Candice is resigned to accept her posh, dull fate. Nothing ever happens in Swoon, Connecticut...until Dice's perfect, privileged cousin Penelope nearly dies in a fall from an old tree, and her spirit intertwines with that of a ghost. His name? Sinclair Youngblood Powers. His mission? Revenge. And while Pen is oblivious to the possession, Dice is all too aware of Sin. She's intensely drawn to him -- but not at all crazy about the havoc he's wreaking. Determined to exorcise the demon, Dice accidentally sets Sin loose, gives him flesh, makes him formidable. Now she must destroy an even more potent -- and irresistible -- adversary, before the whole town succumbs to Sin's will. Only trouble is, she's in love with him.
What do you do when the boy of your dreams is too bad to be true?

Need by Carrie Jones
Zara White suspects there's a freaky guy semi-stalking her. She's also obsessed with phobias. And it's true, she hasn't exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But exiling her to shivery Maine to live with her grandmother? That seems a bit extreme. The move is supposed to help her stay sane...but Zara's pretty sure her mom just can't deal with her right now.
She couldn't be more wrong. Turns out the semi-stalker is not a figment of Zara's overactive imagination. In fact, he's still following her, leaving behind an eerie trail of gold dust. There's something not right - not human - in this sleepy Maine town, and all signs point to Zara.
In this creepy, compelling breakout novel, Carrie Jones delivers romance, suspense, and a creature you never thought you'd have to fear.

Jessica's Guide To Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey
The undead can really screw up your senior year ...
Marrying a vampire definitely doesn’t fit into Jessica Packwood’s senior year “get-a-life” plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth—and he’s her long-lost fiancé. Armed with newfound confidence and a copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire’s Guide to Dating, Health, and Emotions, Jessica makes a dramatic transition from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But when a devious cheerleader sets her sights on Lucius, Jess finds herself fighting to win back her wayward prince, stop a global vampire war—and save Lucius’s soul from eternal destruction.

Old Magic by Marianne Curley
The moment the new guy walks into the room, Kate senses something strange and intense about him. Something supernatural. Her instincts are proven correct a few minutes later when, bullied by his classmates, Jarrod unknowingly conjures up a freak thunderstorm inside their classroom.
Jarrod doesn't believe in the paranormal. When Kate tries to convince him that he has extraordinary powers that need to be harnessed, he only puts up with her "hocus pocus" notions because he finds her captivating. However, the dangerous, uncontrolled strengthening of his gift finally convinces Jarrod that he must take Kate's theories seriously. Together, they embark on a remarkable journey—one which will unravel the mystery that has haunted Jarrod's family for generations and pit the teens against immense forces in a battle to undo the past and reshape the future.

Eternal by Cynthia Leitich Smith
At last, Miranda is the life of the party: all she had to do was die. Elevated and adopted by none other than the reigning King of the Mantle of Dracul, Miranda goes from high-school theater wannabe to glamorous royal fiend overnight. Meanwhile, her reckless and adoring guardian angel, Zachary, demoted to human guise as the princess’s personal assistant, has his work cut out for him trying to save his girl’s soul and plan the Master’s fast-approaching Death Day gala. In alternating points of view, Miranda and Zachary navigate a cut-throat eternal aristocracy as they play out a dangerous and darkly hilarious love story for the ages.

Vampire Kisses: The Beginning by Ellen Schreiber
A new guy in town.
Rumors of vampires.
Dangerous first love.
This is where it all begins. . . .
The mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood empty for years. But one day it seems to be occupied, and its mysterious, handsome inhabitant Alexander Sterling becomes the source of much talk around town. Raven, a vampire-obsessed Goth-girl who has always considered herself an outsider in "Dullsville," is determined to uncover the truth surrounding the secretive Alexander. As she gets to know him, and their spark intensifies, Raven finds herself in some unanticipated situations. Can Alexander make her lifelong dream come true? But love always has its complications—especially when it can only be awakened at nightfall.
The first three books in Ellen Schreiber's bestselling Vampire Kisses series capture the thrill of a most unusual romance.
